On Friday I got a visit from one of our community members. It was a strange meeting 3 years ago, he had lost his ID and no form of income living in extremely bad conditions. I could not understand that this person has a family but chose to live in this condition. I promised to assist in order to get his ID sorted with his brother. After three years they stepped into the office to show us the ID and to let me know that he got his pension. Seeing his way of life made me my wanted to help him. Although he shared a little about himself that time i was not at least prepared what he shared with me on Friday. A very painful life story that made me just hugged him. I cannot understand why parents abuse their children so badly that at the age of pension a person had to cry so much and suffered so much trauma. We really have to listen to individuals stories first before we judge why they end up living on streets and on dumpsites. Although we laughed as he left after nearly an hr, I couldn't help thinking about what he endured and no one to turn to but the gang. They say time heals all wounds, but some wounds time cannot heal. I am so thankful to have listened to his story to better understand him and give him much more support. Our journey continues. The one thing that stood out for me, is the way he spoke about God and his love and appreciation for his brother. One could clearly see the love they have for each other and I am extremely fortunate to be part of that special bond.
If anyone has some size 7 shoes, I would really appreciate it. Thank you for always supporting us in order us to help the communities at large. We are Thankful.
