In light of the various sporting events taking place all around the world, recently the focus was on the Champions League final, the soccer tournament which took place in Europe last month, as well as the South African Women’s National Football team taking part in the latest Women’s Football World Cup, we decided to host a football tournament with the students of Hillwood Primary School, also as a Segway to make sure the students attend school after the examinations with the anticipation of representing their class and winning the tournament for their grade.
We started with the Grade R’s and ended with the seniors of the school, which are the Grade 7’s. The classes were excited as they were given teams names of their favourite football teams. We also made it an inclusive program by mixing the boys and girls together in one team.
Each student of the winning grade received a certificate and had a chance to take a photo with a European Champions League replica trophy.
