Dirty day - a cooking experience

From our international volunteer Peer - Germany: This last week the "Where Rainbows meet" volunteers organized an event to cook for the community. We also invited volunteers from other projects to join and support us and we finally had enough people. First we went to a supermarket to buy the ingredients, our native guides included a township tour to show our guests the area around our community. After we returned, the cooking started. One half of the group prepared the main course and the other one managed the dessert. Our idea was to serve pasta with pesto; mushrooms and chicken meat. The dessert consisted of a healthy fruit salad. We had to cook for the staff, the community, ourselves and finally we were responsible for 100 meals. Everything went very well and everybody was busy with the preparation until we ran out of gas. Unfortunately nobody checked this basic equipment of the kitchen before and therefore our plan was delayed by about 30 minutes. Finally we were satisfied and able to serve a meal for everybody. The whole day was a success and we are thankful for our sponsor of the day, Projects Abroad.
